Our Custodian
Your investments are held at a custodian, not by us.
We provide the advice. Altruist holds your investment accounts, processes transactions, and provides statements and tax documents.
What custody means
We manage your accounts; Altruist holds them.
Client investment accounts are held at Altruist Financial LLC, a third-party custodian and broker-dealer not affiliated with Financial Thinking Partner. Each account is opened under your account registration (such as individual, joint, IRA, or trust), never in our name. Annuity contracts are not held at Altruist; they are issued and held by the insurance company that issues them.
We never take physical possession of your cash or securities. Regulators may still treat an adviser as having custody when it has authority to access client funds, such as having fees deducted from an account. Our account authority is set by your signed advisory agreement and account forms, which typically include placing trades within your agreed strategy and, with your written authorization, having the advisory fee deducted from your account. Altruist sends statements directly to you, and we encourage you to compare them with any reports you receive from us.
At your request, we can help set up scheduled withdrawals to your checking account, or you can arrange them yourself through Altruist. Transfers depend on available settled cash and Altruist processing.
